Adults Masters Freestyle - Age 14 +

  • Our top level Freestyle program is possibly the best example of who we are as a martial arts school.
  • By this level our students will be confident in their striking skills (being proficient upright), their clinching (being proficient in upright grappling), their takedowns (being proficient at getting their opponent onto the ground) and their groundwork (being proficient at positioning, submissions and striking on the floor).
  • Students at this level will spar regularly (with full safety equipment and in a controlled and supervised manner) to test eachother and their ability to apply their skills against a live opponent.
  • We are confident that all our students by the time they get to this level will have developed a substantial base of physical fitness, endurance, stamina and strength.
  • Students at this level will be well prepared to compete (in a range of disciplines including MMA, Thai boxing, Kick boxing and Freestyle Karate) if they wish to do so.  If not, they can feel confident that they are being trained at an exceptionally high level and whether they wish to train purely for self development and enjoyment or become an instructor themselves, will be entirely down to them.
  • Apart from purely physical traits, we actively encourage all our students to develop their own personal character in order to get the most of their martial arts training and out of life in general.
  • At this level, we would expect our students to show genuine respect for other people, show compassion and be brave enough to leave their ego at the door in order to assist in everyones development and not just their own.
  • We think very highly of both our BBM and Masters Freestyle programs as we make them both challenging enough to stay in upto black belt and beyond. The difference between the two lies mainly in intensity of training and amount of sparring undertaken.
