Freestyle/MMA
Our Freestyle/MMA Program is split in to three
levels
Basic
Black Belt Member
Masters
The Freestyle MMA classes teach a wide range of martial arts disciplines and are designed to prepare students for the MMA world.
The Basic Program
Our Basic Adults Freestyle program is specifically designed to give people with no previous experience or fitness background a starting point to training in martial arts. Do not be fooled by its modest name our Adults Basic program is where you will not only build strong foundations for your future training but where you will also discover your own passion for the martial arts.
Summary
- You can expect to learn striking such as punching and kicking.
- You will also learn basic takedowns, escapes and submissions on the floor, clinch work and throws.
- You will experience using different pieces of training equipment that we use such as bags and focus pads.
- It is not all just skills and drills though you will be able to develop your physical fitness strength and flexibility massively from day one.
- It is also the program we recommend to people who are seeking to learn self defence as part of their training.
- You will progress your striking to using different limbs such as hands knees and elbows.
- You will also learn different striking methods, such as western boxing, muay thai and karate, becoming increasingly more proficient as time goes on.
- You will learn how to use throws and how to grapple on the ground, from both a self defence and sport point of view, before drilling methods to link them all together transitioning between ranges is essentially what mixed martial arts MMA is all about.
- You will learn how to apply your skills in each range. Sparring give and take drills will teach you how to utilise your striking effectively, rolling will give you the opportunity to test out the development of your grappling and wrestling and will give you experience in trying to get your partner down to the ground.
- Students training regularly at this level can confidently expect to have skill in their striking(being proficient upright), their wrestling (being proficient at controlling opponents and taking them to the ground and their grappling (being proficient at positioning, submissions and striking on the floor).
- Students at this level will spar regularly to test each other and their ability to apply their skills against a live opponent.
- Students will be well prepared to compete (in a range of disciplines including MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) if they wish to do so.
- They can feel confident that they are being trained at an exceptionally high level and whether they wish to train purely for self development and enjoyment or become an instructor themselves, will be entirely down to them.
The Black Belt Member Program
Having graduated from the Basic Program you will be invited to join the BBM program. It will give you your first taste of how comprehensive our Freestyle system really is. We think our BBM Freestyle program is the perfect way to not only keep fit and enjoy yourself but also to boost your resolve to reach any other positive goals or ambitions that you may want to achieve in life, as you will be feeling like you are capable of anything when you train in these sessions.
Summary
The Masters Program
Our top level Freestyle program is possibly the best example of who we are as a martial arts school. At this level we would expect our students to show genuine respect for other people show compassion and be brave enough to leave their ego at the door in order to assist in everyone’s development and not just their own.
